"He is preparing a place for me. It's a log cabin."
So long dear friend.
Mary became very close friends when she started MPC. with Karen the dietician, we frequented Blueberry Hill for happy hour meals & drinks. Mary loved their red beans & rice , & salad with Mayfair dressing...& a Miller Lite. One Christmas she worked 2 evenings a week doing counseling for several.months. She told me they didn't pay her...i told her to call tgem!!! She said no, that's okay, I don't want them to pay me...i really didn't do that much. She was a kind, caring, supportive friend, & had an unshakable faith in God & Heaven....I know she's there now. She had a beautiful smile & beautiful eyes...she was the kindest, gentler soul I've ever k own. RIP, Mary, we all miss you, & well hold you in our hearts & memories forever. Jerry Hutter
Mary and I grew up as neighbors and quickly became best friends. We spent many years playing in her tree house, riding our bikes around the neighborhood, sitting together on the school bus and mapping out our futures. Our friendship continued for 50 years and Mary became more than a friend - she had become family. Her friendship was one of the constants throughout my life and she was an anchor as I continued through my life's journey. As young adults, we moved to Champaign, Illinois to attend graduate school together and begin new lives as social workers. She was a dear friend and a had a kind soul. I was blessed to have had her in my life and will miss her so very much. However, I will take comfort in the memories of our years together and knowing that she is no longer suffering.

Mary would pass me in the halls with a friendly smile and never a frown. I remember I was rehabbing my house and when I told mary she lit up like a Christmas tree. She told me she was a diyer to ! She will be missed. Joseph Bargiel
Mary was a lovely person and one of the finest social workers I have ever known. It was a privilege to work with her. And I was in awe of her ability to build or fix anything! She truly was a "Wonder Woman"!
Mary was a fierce and loyal advocate for her clients at the Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center where she worked for many years, continuing until the onset of her illness. She was loving, friendly, intelligent, an excellent problem-solver with a vast awareness of resources to assist her clients during and after their Hospitalizations. She was also a resource for Hospital staff who took her into their confidence as she helped them find resources to resolve family issues. She was well-loved by Hospital staff and patients, and made significant contributions to the field of Social Work Services in Psychiatry. She will be greatly missed.
