Mary Ann Highland's Obituary
Maryann (Harster) Highland, 90 years of Millstadt, IL, passed away on July 13, 2024, at Garden Place, Millstadt, IL. She was born February 10, 1934, in St. Louis, MO.
Maryann worked as a secretary at Herrin Hospital and Sheller-Globe in Herrin, IL. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and an Alumni of Notre Dame High School, St. Louis, MO. Her "Secret Pal" group, lifelong friends from Notre Dame, met monthly for over seventy years. She was an avid painter and gardener. She loved and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Victoria Chamness, Aaron (Valerie Ann) Goff, and Evelyn "Lynn" (Terry) Ollis; step-children, Valerie Jo Loeffler, Gregory C. Highland, Glenda I. Bajoras; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; brother, Charles "Jim" Harster; sister, Diana "Diane" Miller; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Lee Goff, second husband, Charles R. Highland; Parents, Emil and Julia (Goettelmann) Harster; brothers, Emil F. Harster and Joseph "Bobby" Harster; sisters, Julia "Lalla" Marsh, Dorothy Theurer, Burnette Becker; and step-son, Robert G. Highland.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17, 2024, 9:00-11:00 AM, at St. James Catholic Church, Millstadt, IL. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024, 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church, Millstadt, IL, with Father Eva officiating.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Special Olympics.
