Martha Ann Mudd's Obituary
Martha Ann Mudd, nee, Goodwin, 81, of Dupo, Ill., born, June 21, 1935 in O’Fallon, MO., passed away, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Martha had worked part time for the Dupo Community School District 196 in the superintendent’s office as a book keeper, she also had worked part time as a guidance counselor for Mr. Barker. Martha helped establish the Daugherty Public Library in Dupo, Ill. And served as a trustee for the library, she developed and ran the pre-school program at the library, she served on the planning commission as a member and also as chairman for the Village of Dupo, one of the major awards Martha received was the Kimmel award for her volunteer work with the library, she served as Girl Scout leader, was a District Chairman and a Den Mother, Martha and her husband Patrick were 2004 honoree’s in the Dupo Walk of Honor, they were in the first group of honoree’s to be inducted, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was active in the church mother’s club, she did volunteer service with the Lion’s Club and she took great pride and joy in taking older people to doctor’s offices, hospitals and to get their eye glasses.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Rosemary, nee Vodochek, Goodwin Sr, and her brother, Samuel Goodwin Jr., her sister, Dorothy Whitten and her sister-in-law, Janet Goodwin.
Martha is survived by her husband of 62 years, Patrick Mudd, her children, Connie L. Mudd of Centralia, Ill., Patrick H. (Joyce) Mudd Jr., of Tall Timbers, MD, and Carol (Adam) Mudd-Gallagher of Moorcroft, WY., her grandchildren, Johnathan (Bernidita) Hopkins, Barbara (Michael) Sharrow and Shaun (Lynna) Hopkins, her great grandchildren, Deanna, David, Emma, Chrystal, Alicia, Jacob and Brent, her sister, Frances Compton of Belleville, Ill., her brothers, Rueben (Doris) Goodwin of Millstadt, Ill., and Bernard Goodwin of Roy, UT., She is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Scholarship Fund from the Educator’s Hall of Fame at the Dupo School District
Visitation will bel on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 an hour before the service at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, Ill., With pastor Matt Friz, officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Ill.
