Marjorie Ann McLaughlin's Obituary
Marjorie Ann McLaughlin, 89, of Cahokia, IL., passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Cedarhurst of Highland in Highland, IL. She was born January 29, 1933, in St. John's, MI.
Marjorie was known as a gentle nurturer, always a speaker of affirmation and encouragement, whether a show of pride or a welcome home. She was a woman of deep, abiding love and devoted to all her family and friends. She was an amazing homemaker, always willing to make a meal or bake cookies. Marjorie had a deep Christian faith and was a member of the First Congregational Church in Dupo, IL, since the early 50's. She was a member of the church choir and quilting club.
Surviving her are a husband of 70 years, John McLaughlin, whom she married on March 8, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cora, IL., her sister, Lynda (Harry) Ziegler, her brother, Nate (Cindy) Geiger, her sons, Bruce (Becky) McLaughlin, Danny McLaughlin (Jane Hunsche) and Joey (Michelle) McLaughlin, her grandchildren, Colin (Lauren) McLaughlin, Ian (Ashley) McLaughlin, Kara McLaughlin, Olivia McLaughlin (Briar Beck), Katelin McLaughlin, Sarah, Jack, and Natalie McLaughlin, and her great-grandchildren, Soren, Oakley, and Rosalie Sylvester; Maverick and Mirin McLaughlin; Isla, Finn and Bodie McLaughlin, along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Mary, nee Ticer, Geiger, and her two brothers, Gary Merle Geiger and William "Bud" Geiger.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday October 30, 2022, at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL., with Pastors Julie Kies and Bob Lee, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ava, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to First Congregational Church of Dupo, 425 Louisa Ave., Dupo, IL 62239 or to Heartland Hospice, 333 Salem Pl. Ste. 165, Fairview Heights, IL 62208-1341. Arrangements were handled by Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL.
