Marilyn Kay Hotto's Obituary
Marilyn Kay Hotto, 77 yrs., of Columbia, IL, passed away at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis, MO. She was born in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of the late Ralph and Velma, nee Kessel, Fritts. She was married to the late Harvey 'Buzz' Hotto. They were married November 28, 1959, in Millstadt, IL. Marilyn was active throughout her life. She attended Dupo High School and graduated with honors in May, 1956. She was PTA Treasurer, Girl Scout co-leader, family business accountant, member of the Rob Morris Chapter 98 - Order of the Eastern Star, Christ United Church of Christ, Dupo, IL, member of the Board of Trustees for Meadow Ridge Homeowner's Assoc. and Meadow Ridge West Condominium Assoc. She worked for 40 yrs. from typist to stenographer, to inside sales person, to legal secretary, and to administrative assistant before retiring on Jan. 1, 1998. Thereafter, she devoted her time and talents to supporting her family, friends, and neighbors wherever and however she could. She was able to appreciate God's wonders in the beauty of Hawaii, Alaska, and Ireland.Her hobbies included voracious reading, crocheting, counted cross stitch, NASCAR racing, baseball, card clubs, travel, the symphony and art museum, live theater, and cooking for her family and neighbors. After courses at SIU, she continued a journal originated by her grandfather, Luther Fritts, who operated the crane setting the sections on the south leg of the St. Louis Arch. The journal now encompasses 22 volumes.
