Marilyn Frasure's Obituary
Marilyn J., nee Niemann, Frasure, 75 of Columbia, IL, passed away on October 25, 2018 at Mercy South Hospital, St. Louis, MO. She was born December 7, 1942, in Breese, IL. She was married to the late Hollie Drexel Frasure. They were married August 21, 1971, in Breese, IL. He passed away May 2, 2002.
Marilyn was a religious sister in the order of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ for 8 years. She was an innovative teacher for over 40 years, teaching math and science at Fox High School Arnold, MO; Immaculate Conception School, Columbia, IL; and Gibault Catholic High School, Waterloo, IL; among others, and was honored with several awards. She was an usher for the St. Louis Cardinals for over 20 years. She was an active volunteer for Immaculate Conception Church & School, as well as the ACTS retreat community. She was skilled at calligraphy, embroidery, quilting, and raising one eyebrow. She was a reluctant gardener, and an avid reader, traveler, puzzle solver and Cardinals baseball fan. Marilyn was the matriarch of her beloved family, a thoughtful and trusted friend to many, and an inspiration and mentor to thousands of students.
Surviving are her children, Lynetta and Douglas Newton of Columbia, IL, Darus Frasure of Columbia, IL, and Desiree Frasure of Columbia, IL; grandchildren, Isabella Frasure, Noah and Kyra Newton; sister, Coletta and Edward Cody of Beaver Dam, WI; nephews, Mark Cody of Milwuakee, WI, Matthew and Melissa Cody of McKinney, TX; niece, Michelle and David Hoehne of Sauk City, WI, along with other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Veronica, nee Peters, Niemann.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 30, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 411 Palmer Road, Columbia, IL, and Wednesday, October 31, 2018, 9:00 am - 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am at church, with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
