Marian Lois Lehenbauer's Obituary
Marian Lois Lehenbauer, 87 yrs., of Gardiner, Montana, passed away at Evergreen Livingston Health/Rehbilitation Center, Livingston, MT. She was born in Crookston, MN, the daughter of the late Edward and Frieda (Harre) Widenhoefer. In 1925 the family moved from Minnesota to Illinois where Marian grew up and attended schools in Brussels and Mt. Olive, graduating from Mt. Olive High School in 1941. After high school she lived and worked in the St. Louis area.Marian married Rev. Herman C. Lehenbauer of Nokomis, Illinois, on July 23, 1944. While serving various LCMS congregations, they lived in New Haven, MO, and thereafter, Thomasboro, Clayton, and Peoria--all in Illinois--before settling in Columbia, Illinois, in 1957. Their two children, Carl and Barbara, were born during their Thomasboro years.In her early years in Columbia, Marian combined being a fulltime homemaker with being an active member of her church. Along with caring for her family, she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the LWML. She enjoyed growing and arranging flowers, embroidering and quilting, and baking chocolate chip cookies for family and friends. In her later years in Columbia, she remained an active member in her church, was the Secretary for the local branch of the AAL/Thrivent membership group, and later became a member of the Columbia Senior Citizens Group. In 1996 she moved to Gardiner, MT, where she volunteered at the Gardiner Community Library and participated in the After 5 Christian Women’s Society. She enjoyed reading and baking cookies for others. Declining health eventually moved her to the Livingston Health and Rehab Center. There she continued to read and could still play a good game of Scrabble. Marian lived her life with purpose. She was a help to family and friends time and again.
