Margaret Swanson was born in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Michael and Theresa (Frank) Neuens. Margaret was Monroe County's eldest resident. She was quite the entrepreneur, having owned several businesses in Missouri and Illinois. From 1939 to 1961 she was active in supporting the U.S.O. at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. She was the wife of the late Gilbert Swanson, who had passed away July 12, 1961.
