Margaret Theresa Dowd, 89, of East Carondelet, passed away at 12:47 PM, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born on June 10, 1932, in Fornfelt, Missouri to Frank John and Leona (Staebel) D Read Obituary
I was so sad to learn of Margaret's passing. We attended Hough Grade School together.
I always admired her black hair and light blue eyes. Our 8th Grade education was a big
affair for us. There were 17 graduates. Our colors were powder blue and white. She wore a powder blue dress. I wore a white dress. This was probably the first time we wore stockings and wedge white shoes were a must. Our picture was taken with 3 rows.
The first row was a bench from the cafeteria. She was on the left end and I was on the right end. We both look like we didn't have much room. Margaret was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. Margaret, I know you are resting in peace.

Margaret was such a wonderful friend to our family. Our mother (Mary Hampton Roderick) and Margaret worked together at the Woolworth's Store on Collinsville Avenue in East St. Louis and became fast friends. Margaret and her sister Pat spent so much time with our family that they became "family" to us. It was a joy knowing Margaret.
