Lydia Emma Schwalb's Obituary
Lydia Emma Schwalb, born October 5th, 1928, daughter of the late John Lappe Sr. and the late Helen (Brewer) Lappe, passed away at the age of 93 on May 26th, 2022 at 9:50pm at Oakhill Nursing Care Center in Waterloo, Illinois.
She was the beloved mother of Dixie Lee Clayton (Bernie), Bonnie Lu Laramore, Joyce Ann Hundley (James), David Edward Laramore (Annette), and Michael Thurman Laramore.
She was the loving grandmother to Lorie, Johnny and Jamie, Angela, Kathryn, and Robyn (Nikki), Erica, Bernie, Brandi, and Brad. She also had 14 great grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Lydia was born and raised in Breese, Illinois. She was the eldest of 14 children. They lived on a farm in “Little Prairie”. She was a very hard worker all her life, working on the farm and helping to care for her younger siblings. Early in her adult life, she worked at the Prim Hosiery Knitting Mill in Chester, IL, and then worked at Wiegmann’s Electric Co. in Freeburg, IL, for 26 years.
Lydia married Edward Thurman Laramore, moving to Chester, IL, where God led her to the church where she received the Holy Spirit. She was a member of the New Covenant Fellowship Church for many years.
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Due to the current rise in Covid cases the services for Lydia have been postponed. We will update the obituary when services have been rescheduled.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude, that memorial contributions be directed to the New Covenant Fellowship Church.
