Lorrain "Sonny" Otto Charles Koehler, 93 years of Belleville, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL He was born May 11, 1929, in Red Bud, IL.
Sonny was a retired iron worker form Monsanto with 36 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, IL. He was past president of Local 12 retiree club. He was a member of the Shaw Garden Rose Society. Sonny loved growing roses and was awarded the prettiest rose garden in Belleville one year. Sonny was a Unites States Army veteran and he guarded the Panama Canal in 1947.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Mary J. Koehler, whom he married on November 27, 1981, his daughter, Barbara (Bob) Baxter, his sons, Steve (Donna) Koehler and William (Laura) Koehler, step-son, Earl (Tracey) Drummond, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 step grandsons, 2 step great granddaughters, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mathilda, nee Junge, Koehler, his brother, Ken Koehler and his sister, Yvonne Spitz.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, IL. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, IL., with Pastor Peter Ill and Pastor Todd Wilken, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery, Millstadt, Illinois.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, IL. Arrangements were handled by Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL.
