Lloyd Ernst Schneider's Obituary
Lloyd E. Schneider, age 84, of rural Columbia, IL, entered his eternal rest on December 21, 2021. He was born March 6, 1937 at home in rural Mitchell, IL to the late Edmund and Bertha, nee Lindhorst, Schneider. On April 25, 1964 he married Ruth S. Metter at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL. She preceded him in death on January 11, 2011.
Survivors include his daughter Lillian (Kevin) Koenigstein and son Russell (Tina) Schneider, grandchildren Loren and Kaitlyn Koenigstein and Lucas Schneider, all of Columbia, IL; a brother Norman Schneider of Greenville, IL; and numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his brothers Edward, Arnold, twin brother Floyd, and an infant brother.
Lloyd loved farming thorough and through and was never more happy than when driving a tractor. He and his family exhibited agricultural products in both the Monroe and St. Clair County fairs for many consecutive years. Lloyd loved to polka and waltz with his favorite partner, Ruth. They were both honorary Columbia FFA members. Lloyd was a member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau, Bluff Grange and Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL.
Visitation will be Monday, December 27, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Leesmann Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Evangelical Cemetery in Columbia.
