Lisa Alexander's Obituary
On July 21, 2021, the world lost another awesome human being. Lisa Sullivan Alexander went to sleep that night around 11pm, & slipped away from us at some point throughout the night. None of us had any idea this would happen anytime soon, as she seemed to be healthy. I'm sure least of all her.
Lisa was someone who never met a stranger, who genuinely loved & cared for everyone she was close to. She may have never "given her life for America", but she did always try to give her all to those she cared about. Even if you had just met her, if you needed her, she was always there. She loved people & animals, especially pit-bulls. She loved & respected all religions, & took a little from each that she had learned about. She believed in a Higher Power that loved & accepted everyone, unconditionally.
Lisa was the only child of her parents (Germaine Emma Sullivan & George Sullivan) & had a great childhood. She grew to become a beautiful young woman who met Robert Winch, & had 2 beautiful children, Jesse (Nikki) & Tracy (Jon). Though they didn't stay together & went their separate ways, they always respected each other & maintained enough of a friendship that she was living with him & his current wife (Billie) when she passed.
Throughout her life, she adopted another son, Kenny (Jamie Lyn), and eventually became Nana to 8 grandkids,(Austin, Fantasia, Zoe, Layton, Daniel, Jonny, Jocelyn, and Eric). She LOVED her family, especially her grandkids. Nothing made her happier than seeing her kids & grandkids doing well & happy. There wasn't ANYTHING more important to her than family.
Throughout her life she lived all over, from all the way here in Illinois, all the way down to Mexico. She developed a relationship with people everywhere she lived, all different ethnicities in all different locations. She was able to adapt within her surroundings & survive. Her love of talking to anyone & her willingness to listen to anyone allowed her to fit in anywhere. She could never stay in one place forever, for she was a gypsy, after all.
Caring for those in need became one of her passions in life. Some of her other passions included talking on the internet to her hundreds of friends, social networking on social media sites, drawing, tattooing, (I'm gonna miss her little green dude on her arm throwing up the peace sign. She said it reminded her of Jesse lol) DJing on MAR pirate radio, & when she needed time by herself away from the world, you could find her in her room burning incense, & jamming out to songs & artists, such as: "Iris", "She Talks To Angels", "Californication", "Redemption Song", "One", "Drops of Jupiter", anything by Lauren Hill, Ozzy, & of course, Queen.
She was an avid social networker, as well as a journalist. She loved to journal online about politics, as well as other things that she had an avid interest in. She was always very well-educated on whatever she felt passionate enough about to speak on, & bless your heart if you tried to challenge her on anything.
Lisa was loved by, cared for, and respected by more people than I think she ever had any idea of. She will remain with us through our love, strength, & drive to live each day the best we can, making the most of our time together, & most importantly, everyone sticking it out & just being here for those of us who may need it.
With life & the world moving forward, we look forward to the bright, sunshiny days, not too hot or cold; some would say when the temperature is just right. When remembering her brings us more laughter than tears. On days when we are vacationing in Colorado & her spirit is with us because that is where her ashes will have been released. When missing her doesn't hurt as bad.
