Lester W. Schneider's Obituary
Lester W. Schneider, 79 years, 6 months, 6 days, a lifelong resident of Columbia, IL. He was the son of the late Clarence and Lucretia (Rudolph) Schneider. He was the beloved husband to the late Carol (Dohanich) Schneider. They were married August 17, 1963, in Columbia, IL. She had passed away December 11, 2014.
Lester was a retired accountant with the Monsanto Corp., Creve Coeur, MO. He had served as Mayor of Columbia, IL, for 12 years, and was instrumental in many projects including the Old St. Paul Lutheran Church restoration, and Columbia High School track and football field venues. Columbia will continue to benefit from his contributions for decades to come. He was a member of the Columbia Gymnastic Assoc., Columbia Sister Cities, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was an avid golfer. He had served in U.S. Army Intelligence in Germany.
