Leo Henry Hoock, 95 years of Columbia, IL., formerly of Prairie Du Rocher, IL, passed away on December 6, 2022 at Garden Place of Columbia, Columbia, IL. He was born September 10, 1927, in East Carondelet, IL.
Member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ruma, IL, Teamsters Local 50 & 600, St. Louis, MO. He loved hunting, Fishing and playing music on the steel guitar, He had served in the Merchant Marines in WW II, and later the U.S. Army, and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Sophie Hoock, nee Dicus, daughter, Patricia Counsell of Belleville, IL., daughter, Sandra (Norman) Sutter of Millstadt, IL., and son, Leo 'Bud' L. (Brenda) Hoock of Fults, IL., Grandchildren, Nathan Counsell, Wendy (Craig) Melrose, Crystal (Erich) Savanick, Wade (Jaime) Sutter, Jacob (Kellie) Hoock, Jessica Hoock and Samantha (fiance' Daniel Brieño) Hoock, brother-in-law, Emeral "Sonny" Dicus, 13 great-grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam J. and Bessie Hoock, son-in-law: Tom Counsell, grandchildren, Dawn Counsell and Charlotte Sutter, brothers, Warren and Ralph Hoock, sisters, Mildred Ecker, Dorothy Masterson, and Armida Williams;
Private family services will be held.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were handled by Leesman Funeral Home in Columbia, IL.
