LaVerne Alberta Baltz's Obituary
LaVerne Alberta Baltz, nee Taake, 83, of Amarillo, TX., formerly of Greeley, Colo., born, February 23, 1933, in Columbia, Ill., passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 in Amarillo, TX.
Laverne and her late husband Bill were members of Zoar United Church of Christ in New Hanover, Ill., and after moving to Greeley, Colo., they were active members of St. John’s United Church of Christ. LaVerne and Bill were members of the Greeley Country Club since 1989, where Laverne was an avid golfer, and she remained a member up until 2015. She was a past member of the Tascosa Country Club in Amarillo, Texas, and the Sioux City Boat Club in Sioux City, Iowa.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, William Norman “Bill” Baltz, who passed away on June 18, 2015, her daughter, Christine Baltz, her parents, Charles and Mathilda, nee Huck, Taake, her sister, Dorothy Riebeling, and her brother, Harvey Taake.
LaVerne is survived by her daughter, Susan Baltz of Amarillo, TX, her son, William “Nik” (Donna) Baltz of Magnolia, TX., her grandchildren, Jennifer (Dustin) Bishop of Marshall, Ill., and Claudia Baltz of Amarillo, TX., her great grandchildren, Briar William Bishop and Breck Ann Bishop both of Marshall, Ill., her sister-in-law, Virginia Hoehn of Malden, MO., and her brother-in-law, Russell (Shirley) Baltz of Millstadt, Ill. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Defenders of Wildlife.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 10 a.m -11 a.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, Ill.
Graveside services will be on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Ill., with Pastor Matt Friz, officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Ill.
