Kenneth Alvin Ruwald's Obituary
Kenneth A. Ruwald, 84 years of Hecker, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Oak Hill Care Center, Waterloo, IL. He was born December 25, 1939, in Chicago, IL.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, IL and the Men's Club. Ken proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1957 till 1961. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, collecting coins, and reading.
On August 6, 1966, in Prairie, IL he was united in marriage to Joan Voges and to this union three children were born. They shared fifty seven years together.
He is survived by his wife, Joan E. Ruwald of the home, his three children, Cynthia (Michael) Ralston, Pamela (Vijay) Choksi, and Matthew (Chelsey) Ruwald, his seven grandchildren, Lauren (David) Kiehna, Nicole (Fiance Sanders McKnight) Choksi, Alyssa Choksi, Kaitlyn Ruwald, Wyatt Ruwald, August Ruwald, and Owen Ruwald, his great-grandchild, Bode Kiehna, his brother, Richard (Joan) Ruwald, his three nephews, Thomas, James, and Paul Ruwald, along with other relatives and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Ruwald, his mother, Lydia Ruwald, and his brother, Donald Ruwald.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 21, 2024, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, IL, and Monday, January 22, 2024, 9:00 am - 10:30 am, St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, IL. Services will be held 10:30 am, Monday, January 22, 2024, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, with Pastor Mark Nebel officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Red Bud, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church 508 Bloom St., Red Bud, IL 62278, Vitas Hospice Care 8 Executive Drive, Fairview Heights, IL 62208, or to the Donor's Choice.
