Kenneth George Koch's Obituary
Kenneth George Koch, 91 years of East Carondelet, IL, passed away on December 19, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 27, 1926, in Dupo, IL
Kenneth married Veneda Levin September 1, 1946 and were married 46 years until she passed October 1, 1992. He was a member and long time Elder of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, IL. and his Lutheran faith allowed him to be the rock of the family. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II, he took great pride in being a retired Postal Carrier in Cahokia, IL, he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Ken was a life long East Carondelet resident who built his own home from the ground up where he lived until he passed. He loved to play the organ and was a terrific dancer until he couldn't dance anymore, even making the paper once for dancing until dawn. Kenneth was an expert woodworker and carpenter who made many priceless gifts for his family. His retirement years were spent happily mowing grass and raising tomatoes.
Surviving are his daughter, Jill (Michael) R. Blattner; his son, Dennis (Mary) Koch; his sister, Virginia Jeffery; his brother, Jule Wayne Koch; grandchildren, Mark, David, Ryan Koch, Jennifer Ainsworth, Randall Hood, Jr., Dana Koch, Amber Miller, Tracey Chism, along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Veneda Koch; his son, Kenneth Wayne Koch; his parents, George & Armentine, nee Levin, Koch; and his brother, Cletus "Lindy" Koch, and sister-in-law Lou Koch.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 4 to 8 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, IL.
Services will be held Friday, Decmber 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, IL with Pastor Steven Theiss officiating.
Interment will follow in the Valhalla Gardens Of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, IL. .
