Kelly G. Vahey's Obituary
Kelvin "Kelly" G. Vahey, 61 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on July 13, 1962 in East St. Louis, IL.
He enjoyed playing softball, baseball, and bowling over the years and was an avid golfer, Kelly looked forward to each and every golf outing with his buddies, St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues fan. He had a love for painting. When asked to paint something, he replied "I can do this, this can be done, and anything can be painted."
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but most of all he loved and cherished the time spent with his three grandchildren. Many rounds of golf would not start until he showed his golf buddies pictures of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Robin Vahey; his daughter, Brittney (Dylan) Koke; his stepson, Jim (Lindsey) Kennedy; his three grandchildren, Clara Koke, Henry Koke, and Eleanor Kennedy; siblings Keith (Debbie) Vahey, Missy Vahey, Linda Vahey, Joe (Sheri) Vahey, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
He is also survived by two very dear close friends, Jim Lansing and Kevin Hardin.
Kelly was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Theodore Vahey and Teresa Mae (Turntine) Vahey; and his brother, Kevin Vahey.
Kelly's wishes were to be cremated.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to American Cancer Society #5 Schiber Ct., Maryville, IL 62062 .
