Kelly "Jay" Thomas' Obituary
Kelly "Jay" Thomas, 59 years of Dupo, IL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 16, 2018 at his residence.
Kelly "Jay" Thomas, son of Inez Rosemary Thomas and Harold Garnet Thomas, was born March 20, 1959 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended the public schools of Dupo, Illinois and attended college on a baseball scholarship at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Married twice, he was blessed with five children. Jay was an active member of the community, coaching youth baseball in the same town that he grew up in. Beloved by all in the town of Dupo, Jay made friends everywhere he went. There is not a person he met that he didn't leave a significant impression on. A devout Christian, he prayed in thanks for each meal, for each day and all its glorious blessings. He loved the outdoors. An avid fisherman and a man of very sport, he always included his family and children. He worked as an electrician and carpenter most of his life. He took pride in his ethic as a hard worker but always said his best work was his children. He loved animals, dogs specifically. Everywhere he went, he had his kids and a dog at side.
His amazing and memorable life will forever be cherished and honored in the lives of his children, Jessica Thomas and Rachel Thomas of Lafayette, Indiana, Jason Page of Harlin, Iowa, Zachary Thomas and Brittany Thomas of Dupo, Illinois., his two grandchildren, Beatrice Duck and Alice White of Dupo, Illinois, his brothers, Barry (Sherry) Thomas of Highland, Illinois, Tommy (Patty) Thomas of Highland, Illinois, Terry Thomas (Tammy Sanders) of Dupo, Illinois, his sister, Tracy (Wayne) Norrad of Navarre Beach, Florida, along with numerous nephews, and nieces. He is preceded in death by his brother, Danny Thomas and his parents, Harold Garnet Thomas and Inez Rosemary Thomas.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Illinois with Rev. Roger Reid, officiating.
