OBITUARY
Kathy J. Fitzgerald
Kathy Jean Fitzgerald, 70, of Columbia, IL, born May 17, 1954, in Red Bud, IL, to the late Norman H. and Eileen A. Stumpf, passed away on March 5, 2025, at Cambridge House of Swansea, IL.
Kathy was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cheering on her children at their soccer games, baseball games, and swim meets. She adored her pup, Cappy, and her cat, Abby. She valued time with her lifelong friends—Susie, Robin, Celia, and Margie. Together, they took trips, shared lunches, and made crafts, creating lasting memories over the years. She spent her free time knitting, playing with her grandchildren, and playing Farkle and Rummikub. Later in life, she appreciated the friendships she made with the staff and residents at Cambridge House, where she was known to join in on competitive games of Wii Bowling and bingo.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne (River) Turner; sons, Patrick Fitzgerald and Joseph (Marjorie) Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Jane and Declan; brother, Norman T. Stumpf; and sister, Tina (Steve) Luhr, along with other relatives and friends.
A time of reminiscing and celebrating Kathy’s life will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, IL.
