June Elizabeth Schultheis' Obituary
June Elizabeth Irma Schultheis, 77, of Red Bud, passed away at 10:58 AM, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at New Athens Home for the Aged.
June was born on December 5, 1944 in Red Bud to Sylvester "Pat" Paul and Gladys Margaret (Grimm) Burgdorf. She graduated Red Bud High School in 1963. While in high school she babysat for area kids and cleaned houses. June began a long career at Red Bud Regional Care Center as a CNA in the Med-Surg department while also still in high school. She retired in 2011 as a Human Support Specialist.
She was a longtime member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Red Bud. She taught Sunday school and enjoyed helping others around the church. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and vegetable gardening and her beautiful flowers. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts and was a talented at embroidery, crocheting, sewing and scrap booking. She was a kind and simple woman who enjoyed helping but avoided the spotlight. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her son- Shawn Schultheis of Marissa, daughter- Jodie Schultheis and Stephen Surman of Baldwin;, grandchildren- Roxann, Roz and Rosezona Surman, great grandchildren- Sophia and Shane Michael "Littleman" Jones, Jr. sister- Eunice Kempfer of Evansville and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother- Ralph Burgdorf.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud. Pastor Cory Hartz will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Marcus Cemetery in Red Bud. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM -7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud.
