Judith A. Jones' Obituary
Jones, Judith A. of Clayton, MO passed away peacefully Monday, February 12, at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis M. Jones Sr. and her parents, Lora Lorine Snyder Pearce and Lloyd "Doc" Eugene Pearce. Judy is survived by her sister, Jane Webster; daughter, Denise Jones Franz (Drew); son, Dennis “Matt” Matthew Jones, Jr (Chrissie); her grandchildren, Dennis “DJ” M. Jones, III (Samantha), Natalie Holloran (Michael), Madeline Franz; and her great grandchildren, Dennis “Shawn” Matthew Jones IV, Tucker Holloran, Charli Jones. Judy graduated from Marshall High School, completed cosmetology school, and married Dennis, who proudly wore his US Marine Corps uniform. When her children were grown, she joined Dennis in founding Jones Pharma, Inc. in 1981 and became the first female officer of a public company in the state of Missouri. Her philanthropic efforts were many, including her honor as being named Variety St. Louis Woman of the Year in 2016. She remained loyal to many local causes including Connections to Success, Lift for Life Academy, The Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation- Jones Scholars, Junior Achievement, Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, Saint Louis Zoo, Ranken Technical College, The Gathering UMC, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Patrick’s Center, Peter & Paul Community Services, Focus Marines, N-Power, and Foster Care Coalition, among others. Friends might remember her trappings of success, but she declared to have never tasted a wine more special than the Mogen David screw top she and Dennis enjoyed over their first Thanksgiving dinner in their trailer home, while stationed at USMC Cherry Point, NC. Judy and Dennis will be interred together at Marshall, IL Cemetery. A Celebration of Judy Jones’ Life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 22 at The Gathering Church, 2360 McCausland Ave, St. Louis, MO 63143. Tributes may be made to any of the above charities in lieu of flowers.
