Joyce Helen Aukamp's Obituary
Joyce Helen (Metter) Aukamp, 87 years of Belleville, IL, passed away on August 9, 2024, at Mercy Rehab and Care Center, Swansea, IL. She was born April 3, 1937, in Dupo, IL.
Joyce lived life to the fullest. She loved to read, especially her Bible, and would recite verses. She also enjoyed singing. Joyce was very active in LWML and a member of the PEO Organization the HR Chapter. Her love and devotion to the Lord led her to helping establish Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marion, IL. While raising her family, she instilled the importance of leading a Christian life. Being active in the communities and organizations where she lived brought joy into her life. Joyce never met a stranger and became a friend to everyone.
Surviving are her Husband, Merle Aukamp; Children, Regina Aukamp-Wesemann, Donna (Keith) Summers, and Craig Aukamp; Grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda (Jordan), Rachel (Tyler), April (Tim), Aaron (Katie), Nathan, Lydia (Brandon), and Sarah; Great-Grandchildren, Faith, Isabella, Cora, Luke, Liam, Jacob, Carter, Joseph, Gianna, Anthony, and Jonathan; along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Aurelia (Kremmel) Metter.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 13, 2024, 9:30 am - 11:00 am, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL. Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday August 13, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL, with Pastor Gary Byers officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Sugarloaf Township.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (Southern Illinois District) or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1801 Westminster Dr., Marion, IL 62959.
