She was born in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Frederick and Hazel (Hargrove) Powell. She had been a member of VFW Post #6504 Metzger-Crook Auxilary, Waterloo, IL, where she had served as president, and had attended St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church, Hazelwood, MO. She was married to the late Clifford C. Reis. They were married on May 12, 1966, in St. Louis, MO. He passed away November 29, 2008
