Joseph Alfred Descher's Obituary
Joseph A. Descher, 76 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on November 4, 2019 at Integrity Health Care of Columbia, Columbia, IL. He was born December 9, 1942, in East St. Louis, IL, son of the late Alfred and Agnes, nee Ross, Descher. He was married to Annette, nee Clay, Descher, who survives him. They were married September 16, 1993.
Joe was retired from the City of Columbia, IL, where he had worked in the water department for 39 years. He was a member of the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 6165, and American Legion Post 581, Columbia, IL He served with the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, attending Columbia High School basketball and football games, and was an avid Cardinals fan.
Also, surviving are his daughter, Nikki (Lonny) Luttrull, and step-son, Darrell Muskopf; grandchildren, Seth and Aaron Luttrull, and Theodore and Daisy Muskopf; sister, Rosemary (James) Law of Columbia, IL; sisters-in-law, Delrose Descher, and Mary Catherine "Mickey" Descher; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert Descher, and James Descher; three sisters, Mary Ann Hellmer, Annette Nobbe, and Catherine Schmidt; and nephew, David Nobbe.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 8, 2019, 9:00 am - 9:45 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL. Funeral mass will follow the visitation at 10:00 am, with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
