Jerlene Sackman Stone's Obituary
Jerlene Sackman Stone, 91 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on July 2, 2017 at de Greeff Hospice House, St. Louis, MO. She was born January 30, 1926, in Mayfield, KY, daughter of the late Luther Boone and Drusilla, nee Robertson, Adams. She was married to the late Uhl O. Sackman for over 47 years. They were married January 13, 1945, in Mayfield, KY. He had passed away January 18, 1992. She was married to Virgil Stone in 1999.
Jerlene, in her youth, was the church pianist at the Methodist Church in Mayfield, KY, and was quite proud of that accomplishment. During her working career, she had been a secretary at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL, and was a member of Christ Community Lutheran Church, Columbia, IL. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends and was in several local Bridge clubs.
Surviving are her son, Randal (Deanna) Sackman of Festus, MO; two daughters, Cheryl (Miles) Stewart of Manchester, MO, and Karen (Robert) Kirk of Columbia, IL; grandchildren, Keith, Chad, Brandon, Amanda, Emily (Brian), Sean (Kim), Joshua (Jenny), Jeremy (Emily), Andrea, LeAnn (Mathew), Chelsea (Kazeem), Matthew (Rose), and Corey; great-grandchildren, McKenna, Tristen, Jacob, Daniel, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Alexandria, Kallista, Liam, Elara, James, David, William, Nicholas, Caleb, Corinne, Brenden, Machenze, Owen, Eli, Elsie, Ezekiel, Lillyana, and Jackson; greatgreat-grandchild, Landon, along with other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Chris A. Sackman, grandchild, Brandon, and a sister, Sylvia Ruth Willie.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Christ Community Lutheran Church, Columbia, IL. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at the Christ Community Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jared Parker, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
