Jeffrey "Scott" Tilley's Obituary
Jeffery Scott Tilley, 59, passed away peacefully in his home on January 12, 2025.
Scott was born on Halloween, October 31, 1965 to the late John and Alice “Kayte” Tilley. As an only child, he had a great sense of humor, but not much patience. Scott always wanted things done right now, and if you didn’t do it his way, you’d hear about it.
Scott was presented many difficulties in life, namely the debilitating disease Syringomyelia. Syringomyelia is an illness of the spine which slowly attacks the entire body, meaning eventually, Scott was bedridden and needed help with everyday activities. His good neighbor, Joe, saw to it he got up in the morning, was ready for anything that took him out of the house, and made sure both Scott and his dog, Daphne, were fed. Several other friends and family checked in on him occasionally, but Joe really took care of him.
Scott graduated Dupo High School in 1983 where he played football and was good enough to snag a scholarship at Aurora University in Aurora, IL.
He was involved with the Dupo Quarterback Club throughout his life. As a young boy, he played baseball there, with his dad as his coach, and later in life became a coach there himself. Scott worked for many years with SCI until his disability, but was really a jack of all trades. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, the Green Bay Packers, and working with his hands. Scott lived with his dog Daphne for many years.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Opal, Rex, Vivian, and Clinton (“Chum”), and many uncles and aunts. He’s survived by first, second, and third cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 16, 2025, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Friday, January 17, 2025, 10:00 am - 11:00 am, at Leesman Funeral Home, Dupo, IL. Funeral service will be Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 am with Jim Jarvis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dupo Quarterback Club.
