Jean Belt's Obituary
Jean Belt, 91 of Waterloo, IL, passed away on November 9, 2018 at her residence. She was born February 13, 1927, in Buchanan, MO. She was married to the late Roy E. Belt. They were married January 18, 1946, in Charleston, MO, he passed away August 1, 2001.
Jean was the former owner of Jean's Beauty Shop in Cahokia, IL for 20 years. She had been a member of Columbia Senior Citizens and a volunteer with the Meals On Wheels program. She was a past Sunday School teacher and a member of Prairie du Rocher Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Ron Belt of Granite City, IL, Nancy Boren of Waterloo, IL, and Tommy (Jeannine) Belt of Columbia, IL; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lilly Faye Griffin of Sikeston, MO; brothers, David (Jean) Sitzes of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Charlie (Mavis) Sitzes of Bloomington, IN; and sister-in-law, Norma Sitzes of Heber Springs, AR, along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh Rey and Clara Arnelia, nee Stilts, Sitzes; great-grandson, Xavier Belt; brothers, Glenn Sitzes, and Fred (Dolores) Sitzes; sister, Joyce (Elmer) Kernell; sister-in-law, Dolores Sitzes; and brother-in-law, Jarrell Griffin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 14, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday November 15, 2018 at Lawlor Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Red Bud City Cemetery, Red Bud, IL.
