Janice L. Mathews' Obituary
Janice Lee Mathews, 79 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on July 7, 2019. She was born January 18, 1940, in Belleville, IL, daughter of the late Walter and Vernette, nee Schad, Pieper. She was married to Harold Mathews, who survives her. They were married November 23, 1961, in Columbia, IL.
Janice was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, IL. She loved animals, especially cats. Janice loved movies, and enjoyed watching them from her green chair.
Also, surviving are her daughter, Kelly Mathews of Columbia, IL; son, Todd Mathews of Oro Valley, AZ; sister, Nancy (George) Deckert of Wentzville, MO; dear friends, Judy Harvell of Sullivan, MO, and Marianna Baldridge of Columbia, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Pieper, and dear friend Barbara Jean, nee Kaempf, Walsh.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10, 2019, 10:00 am - 12 noon, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL, with funeral services to follow, with Pastor Bob Goddard officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
