Jane E. Caveglia's Obituary
Jane E. Caveglia, 94 years, of Belleville, IL, passed away on July 25, 2021 at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL. She was born May 6, 1927, in Oakdale, IL, daughter of the late Clinton Allen, and Cora Mae, nee Wilson, Henson. She was married to the late Joseph H. Caveglia.
Jane was a telephone operator in her early years, worked at the original Sav-Mart in Belleville, and later retired from Famous-Barr at St. Clair Square, having worked there from the time the store opened. She was a cake decorator and had baked wedding cakes for a living. Jane loved gardening, enjoyed music and played a mountain dulcimer, was an artist and created her own jewelry, as well as being a collector of antiques. She followed sports of all kinds and had any number of favorite athletes, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bulls.
Surviving are her son, Robert (Judi) Caveglia; three daughters, Judith (Larry) Kronemeyer of Millstadt, IL, Connie (Edward) Mielke, June (Brian) Wolf; six grandchildren, Benjamin (Kristin) Mielke, Susan (Neil) Scott, Daniel (Melissa) Caveglia, Aaron (Sarah) Caveglia, Jordan (Kyria) Crockett, and Jared Crockett; great-grandchildren, Marisa and Max Scott, Coraline, Lilly, and Bay Crockett, Ezekial, and Eleanor Jane Caveglia; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter; Susan Jane Caveglia; along with 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2021, 9:00 am - 11:00 am, at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Services will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 11:00 am, with Jim Jarvis, officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Mueller's Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL, on Monday at 1:00 pm.
