James A. Reece's Obituary
James A Reece, 65 years, of Waterloo, IL, passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2023 in Waterloo, IL. He was born October 31, 1957, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, IL
James was a retired carpenter with United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, as well as a board member of the St. Clair County Anglers Association. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Church. James loved listening to classic rock, was a big KSHE 95 fan, and loved schooling his family with classic rock song lyrics. He loved gardening, tinkering with all kinds of things, completing projects around the house, spending time with his grandchildren, his animals, and his family and friends. He also loved the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife, Cassy A Reece of Waterloo, IL, sons William and Joseph (Shelby) Reece, daughter Melissa (Benjamin) McMurtry, mother Lucille Reece, sisters Cheryl Emerson and Lori (Jerry) Klotz, grandchildren Ayla McMurty, Oliver Reece, Jerry McMurtry, August Reece, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and his faithful dogs Hershey and Cocoa.
James was preceded in death by his father, George Reece, grandparents Joseph and Florence Stoll and William and Jesse Reece, nephews Jordan Gass and Ryan Wagner, and brother in law James Gass.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2023, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL. Memorial Services will immediately follow the visitation, at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL beginning at 6:00 PM, with Darrell Weber officiating.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the Make-a-wish Foundation, Anglers, and Helping Strays.
