Jim had taught & coached in the Christopher and Columbia, IL, school districts, and worked as an agent for the Prudential Insurance Co. before opening and operating the Maasberg Insurance Agency in Columbia, IL. He had been a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Columbia Optimists, and the Columbia Gymnastic Assoc.
