James J. Coff Jr.'s Obituary
James J. Coff, Jr., 99 years, of Waterloo, IL, passed away on September 1, 2023 at Oak Hill Care Center, Waterloo, IL. He was born March 12, 1924, in St. Louis, MO., son of the late James Joseph, Sr., and Bertha, nee Lehman, Coff. He was married to the late Grace, nee Wolfenden, Coff.
James had worked at Monsanto Corp., MOPAC Railroad, and East St. Louis Stone Quarry. He was a WW II Navy Veteran and loved all things Navy. James enjoyed watching Judge Judy when he had the time, and his woodworking hobby kept him busy.
Surviving are daughters, Janice Birch, Sandra Hastings, and Barbara Hemme; son, Allan Coff ; grandchildren, Michael Brown, Patricia Rice, Wayne Ogilvie, Bart Ogilvie, Denise Wolfenden, Susan DiBello, Katherine Dunbar, Matthew Coff, Kathy Word, and Tim Hemme; 8 great-grandchildren, 8 greatgreat-grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Darren Merse, and a sister, Eileen Fabian.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2023, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, IL, with Funeral Services to follow at 12:00 pm, at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Barrett, officiating. Interment will follow in the Valhalla Gardens Of Memory, Belleville, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to: Bethany Methodist Church, 1608 Hilltop Road, Columbia, IL 62236 .
