Jackie Hudspeth (nee Alves), 90 of New Athens, IL passed away peacefully
on October 4, 2021. Jackie was born in Hayward, CA on September 15, 1931.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years,
Robert "Bob" Hudspeth; and parents, Franklin and Helvie (nee Willberg) Alves.
Jackie and Bob raised 3 daughters and made Cahokia, IL home for over
50 years. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing clothes for her girls and was an avid bird watcher.
She loved sharing music with her family and found it soothing for the soul.
Jackie enjoyed her time as a member of the Quilters Circle at The First Congregational Church of Christ in Dupo,IL where she and Bob attended.
She had a beautiful spirit and shared her faith with everyone around her including
her fellow residents at New Athens Home for the Aged. She loved to read her daily
devotionals and if you were visiting with her, she would have you read them with her.
Jackie is survived by her three daughters, Sharon (Peter) Hallihan of Jacksonville, FL,
Susan Watts of Independence, MO, Kelly (Jim) Gabbard of Roanoke, VA;
eight grandchildren: Lindsay Scott, Nicholas Scott, Tiffany (Ozzie) Luna, Nathan (Kayla)
Watts, Angela (Jason) LaBrash, Jeremy (Theresa) Beever, James (Kasia) Gabbard,
Joshua (Jessica) Gabbard; 12 great grandchildren; brother Donald (Randi) Alves and six nieces.
A Visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. and a Celebration of Life Service at 9:30 a.m at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL.
Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St Louis, MO.
