Iona A. Junge's Obituary
Iona A. Junge, 92 years of Baldwin, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Red Bud Care Center in Red Bud, IL.. She was born July 29, 1928, in Campbell Hill, IL.
Iona was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin, IL., she was involved in the ladies aid and she was a past member of the choir. Iona was a home maker, auxiliary legion member and a 4-H leader. She was an excellent seamstress, loved to knit & crochet and she had worked in the fabric department at Wal-Mart for several years. She was baptized on August 19, 1928 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, Il., and confirmed there on March 29, 1942.
Surviving are her daughter, Doris (David) Schnepel, two sons, Donald ((Pam) Junge and Anthony "Tony" (Fleta) Junge. Seven grandchildren, Joel (Libby) Schnepel, Micah (Amanda) Schnepel, Derick Junge, Noah (Sydney) Junge, Mike (Danielle) Westerman, Kyle (Fiancée Joy Wiesen) Junge and Heather Junge, her great granddaughter, Bailey Schnepel, along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland "Shorty" H. Junge, and her parents, William and Sophia, nee Reuscher, Alms.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud, IL., and on Saturday, February 27, 2021 an hour before the service in the school building behind St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church (services will be in the school building behind the church) in Baldwin, IL., with Rev. Clifford Adair, officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Baldwin, IL.
