Herbert H. Dopmeyer Jr.'s Obituary
Herbert Henry Dopmeyer Jr., 93 years, of East Carondelet, Illinois, passed away on June 12th, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born October 8th, 1930 in Lakewood, Ohio to Herbert Henry Sr. and Dorothy Dopmeyer.
He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Dupo. Herbert was an Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War. He later went on to work as in air traffic control for the Federal Government. Besides flying planes, he also had incredible locksmith and carpentry skills.
Surviving is his son, Guy (Sidney) Dopmeyer, grandchildren: Michael Johnson, Jonathan Dopmeyer, Jessica Dopmeyer, Amanda Alatrista, Robin Ryan, Dianna Kane, and Dawn Buckley, great-grandchildren: Christina, Marley, Tiana, Izzaiha, Elijah, Carson, Kylie, Richard, Devon, Libby, Nick, Teddy, Gracie, Daisy, Finnigan, Beckett, Rosie, and Judy, brothers-in-law, Alan (Carolyn) Morgan and Marvin Morgan, sister-in-law Myrtle Appelgate, daughter-in-law, Susan Dopmeyer, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Marlene Dopmeyer, parents, Herbert H. Sr. and Dorothy Dopmeyer, son, Scott Dopmeyer, sister, Sally Dopmeyer, sister-in-law, Judy Morgan, and brother-in-law, Richard Appelgate.
Visitation will be Monday, June 17th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Dupo, Illinois. Services will be held Tuesday, June 18th at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Dupo, Illinois, with Pastor Roger Reid officiating. Interment will follow in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
