Helen Louise Menner's Obituary
Helen Louise Menner, age 90, of Millstadt, IL born July 12, 1933, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
She is preceded in death by her husband Walter, her parents, George and Elvira Hildebrand (nee Hoock), and a brother, Donald Hildebrand.
Helen was a long time and active member of St. James Catholic Church and a 1947 graduate of St. James Catholic Grade School. Keeping St. James School close to her heart, she worked there for 26 years. Her official role was school secretary, but she also functioned as nurse, counselor, and school mom to all who needed her during their day. Helen was a member of the St. James Council of Catholic Women holding leadership positions throughout the years and was an avid quilter with the St. James Quilting Ladies.
Helen is survived by her six children, Lynn Hofstetter (Gene) of Camdenton, MO, Karen Orsa (Joe) of Millstadt, IL, Roger Menner of Glen Allen, VA, Joan Kilman (David) of Colorado Springs, CO, Tom Menner (Dianna) of Red Bud, IL, Ron Menner (Sue) of Pawcatuck, CT. Helen is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Earl Menner (Jane), a sister-in-law, Helen Hildebrand, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held, Thursday, October 19, 2023, 9:30 am - 11:00 am, at St. James Catholic Church, Millstadt, IL. Services will be held, Thursday, October 19, 2023 11:00 am, at St. James Catholic Church, Millstadt, IL with Father Marvin Volk officiating. Interment will follow in the St. James Catholic Cemetery, Millstadt, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. James Catholic School Annual Fund or to the American Heart Association 460 N. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63141.
