Harold hire me at Economic Laboratory some 40 years ago. He was great Mentor, Leader, and Friend. With Harold the job was not just work, but it was fun. Although it was fun, he made sure we presented professional appearance by dressing in shirt and tie wearing our white Economic Laboratory Lab coat to work on the dish machines. Not every boss is loved or respected by their employees but I can honestly say everyone that worked for Harold loved him and respected him. We did things a little different back then, we had to learn what they called “The Standard Sales Talk”. The script allowed us the ability to fall back on the conversation if we were stuck during our presentation. He made sure we had the knowledge to be successful. We were a professional sales team first that solve customer problems.
Well I was blessed to attend his Funeral today and I was able to thank him for helping to make me to be a better person for both my family and company. While saying a my good byes at his at his coffin. A smile came over my face as when I looked down at Harold because on his lapel was his 30 year Ecolab Pin. He has been retired from Ecolab now 22 years and he still was carrying the Ecolab Water to his grave.
I don’t know I will be buried with my pin hopefully in 22 years plus. I do appreciate what Economic Laboratory (Now Ecolab) meant to one individual so much that his family choose to buried him with his Ecolab pin. This is truly Bleeding Blue and going the extra for one’s company.
Thank you Harold for being there to help me to be a better person. You will be missed, Please Rest in Peace.
