Harold W. Devenport's Obituary
Harold W. Devenport, 92 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on January 8, 2021 at Oak Hill Care Center, Waterloo, IL. He was born August 28, 1928, in Patton, MO, son of the late Fredrick and Elva, nee Mayfield, Devenport. He was married to the late Darlene, nee Goss, Devenport. They were married November 11, 1949, in St. Louis, MO. She passed away April 17, 2016.
Harold was retired from Kisco Valentec, St. Louis, MO, and previously worked some 40 years at Carter Carburetor, St. Louis, MO. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL, as well as the Columbia Blue Lodge #474 AF & AM. Harold was one to repair just about anything, and loved working with his hands.
Surviving are three sons, William (Robbie) Devenport, Jeffrey (Ginny) Devenport, and Fred Devenport all of Columbia, IL; daughter, Linda (Larry) Sorenson of Waterloo, IL; grandchildren, Adam (Katie), Dan, Zach, Blake, and Andrew, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Viola Seabaugh, and Iola Newton; brothers, Floyd Devenport, Hubert Devenport, and Darrel Devenport, along with a step-granddaughter, Sarah Sorenson.
A funeral procession will leave from Lawlor Funeral Home, 218 S. Metter Ave., in Columbia on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 10:45 am, for a graveside committal service at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, IL, with Pastor Elizabeth Terrill, officiating
