OBITUARY
Harlan L. 'Bummy' Burmester
Harlan L. 'Bummy' Burmester, 80 years, of Prairie, IL, passed away on December 30, 2017 at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, IL. He was born September 23, 1937, in Red Bud, IL, son of the late Victor and Melba, nee Schnepel, Burmester. He was married to Dorthy, nee Piel, Burmester, who survives him. They were married May 1, 1960, in Red Bud, IL.
Harlan was a local area farmer, had worked at AFCO, Singer, Snyder General in Red Bud, then with Wiegmann in Freeburg, IL, was a member of the Randolph County Farm Bureau and Trinity Lutheran Church - Prairie, IL. He had served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves. Harlan was an avid sports fan, card player, and deer hunter.
Also, surviving are two sons, Stanley Burmester of Red Bud, IL, and Byron (Cathy) Burmester of Red Bud, IL; two daughters, Annette (Doug) Biethman of Prairie du Rocher, IL, and Darla (Kurt) Cowell of Red Bud, IL; Grandchildren, Coltin and Cole Biethman, Heidi, Devin, and Abigail Burmester, Breanna, Savanah, Logan, and Alyssa Cowell; a sister, Marilyn Miller of Columbia, IL; Aunt, Elda Guebert of Red Bud, IL., nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Wayne C. Miller; .
Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home, Red Bud, IL, and Saturday, January 6, 2018, 10:00 am - 11:00 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Prairie, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Scott Hojnacki officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
