Gwendolyn W. West's Obituary
Gwendolyn W. West, 83 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on November 2, 2018. She was born September 9, 1935, in Marion, LA, daughter of the late Robert and Deborah, nee Hubbard, Williamson. She was married to the late Robert V. West. They were married June 4, 1954, in West Monroe, LA. He had passed away October 25, 2000.
Gwen had worked as a transcriptionist at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, MO. She had been a member of the Maplewood Church of Christ, Cahokia, IL. Gwen had volunteered at CASA for many years, as well as the American Red Cross. She was a local poll judge during elections, and a proud member of the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are her son, Randy W. (Sherry) West of LaGrange, GA; daughter, Gloria Carvalho of Columbia, IL; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her son; Gary West; grandson, Christopher Blair West; sister Betty MIlls; along with a brother, Samuel Williamson.
Visitation will be Monday, November 5, 2018, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday November 6, at the funeral home, with Brother Tim Ruiz officiating. Interment will follow in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
