Goldie L Boland's Obituary
Goldie L Boland, nee Austin, 88, of Millstadt, IL, died September 16, 2015 at Freeburg Care Center.
She was born on Christmas Day, 1926 to Henry Clinton and Dora Jane, nee Stoots, Austin near
Austinville, VA.
During World War II, Mrs. Boland aided the war effort by working at the Hercules powder mill in Virginia. After the war, she moved to Illinois, settling in Millstadt with her first husband, Arthur Boehm, who died on October 13, 1981. She was a member of Crossroads Trinity Church, where she married her second husband, George M. Boland, on January 10, 1987.
Mrs. Boland traveled extensively throughout the United States, taking special pleasure in visiting the capitol building of every state.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and two sisters, Bonnie Loiseau and Rita (Tony) Lindner.
She is survived by her husband, George M. Boland, of Millstadt; sister, Trula (Charles) Alderman of Dublin, VA; nephew, Dale Loiseau of Fairview Heights; nieces, Joyce (Joe) Stumph of Dorsey, IL, Marisa (David) Campbell of Shiloh, Donna (Dwayne) Rickert of Collinsville, Robin (Bobby) Smith of Dublin, VA, and Terry (Mark) Vaughn of Pilot, VA; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Loiseau of Millstadt, and Jim Boland of Ellis Grove, IL; great niece, Jenna Rickert of Collinsville; and great nephews, Chad Stumph of Clarksburg, WV, Shawn Stumph of Dorsey, IL, Jason Bartholomew of Denver, IN, Shawn Rickert of Collinsville, Corey Smith of Dublin, VA, and Logan Smith of Dublin,VA.
Memorials may be made to Crossroads Trinity Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL. and Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL., with Rev. Doris Edwards, officiating.
Entombment will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, IL.
