Glen Marvin Besher's Obituary
Glen Marvin Besher, 93, years of Ruma, Illinois, passed away June 22, 2024 at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, Illinois. He was born to the late Robert H. & Fern (Gulley) Besher on May 14, 1931. He married Marcella Meister on June 2, 1951and she preceded him in death.
Glen was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Red Bud, IL. He was an US Army veteran serving in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. Glen retired as supervisor of the sewer and water departments for the community of Ruma and Prairie du Rocher.
Surviving are his daughter, Charlotte (Marvin) Liefer of Red Bud and a son, Glen Allen (Beverly) Besher of Ruma, Illinois. Grandchildren: Jonathan Glen (Meghan Barney) Liefer, Joseph Marvin (Beth) Liefer; great-grandchildren, Isabella Liefer, Emilee Liefer, Jay Dee Besher, and Sophia Liefer and Ella Liefer; step grandchildren Michael & Branden; step great-granddaughter Evelynn; sisters, Shirley Allers and Milly Gregson and brother, Robert G. Besher.
He was preceded in death by grandson Bradley Besher, brother Raymond, sister & brother-in-law Gene & Irene Meister, brothers-in-law John Allers & Alberrt Gregson, sister-in-law Edith Besher.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 4:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M at Leesman Funeral Home, Red Bud and from 9:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M Thursday, June 27, 2024 at St. Peters United Church of Christ, Red Bud. Services will be held 11:00 A.M Thursday at the church with Pastor Corey Hartz officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Marcus Cemetery, Red Bud.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. Peter United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund in Red Bud, Illinois.
