Gilbert H. Geringer's Obituary
Gilbert H. Geringer, age 68 of Dupo, IL., passed away on March 24, 2025 at Kindred Hospital, St. Louis, MO. He was born December 25, 1956, in St. Louis, MO. to the late Gilbert L. and Barbara Geringer nee Clemons.
Gil grew up in Cahokia and stayed in the area his entire life, landing a job with Union Pacific Railroad where he was still employed.
When Gil wasn't working he loved spending time with his family as he was a wonderful father and loving husband. Gil was known to be a very hard worker and at times a "workaholic". When he wasn't working or spending time with his family he could be found somewhere by the water with a fishing pole in his hand or occasionally cheering on the New York Yankees.
Surviving are his wife, Rose M. Geringer, children; Michael Shane Geringer, Shannon (Jesse) Geringer, Robbin (Jeff) Prater, Amy (David) Shaw, step-daughter, Angela Lynn, sister, Patty (Mark) McNeely, 14 Grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Leon Williams, sister-in-law, Kathy Ventimiglia, along with other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Geringer.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Leesman Funeral Home, Dupo, IL. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, 11:00 AM at Leesman Funeral Home, Dupo, IL., with Rev. Jim Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Belleville Area Humane Society, 1301 S. 11th St.,, Belleville, IL 62226 .
