Gerold "Jerry" Orville Quirin's Obituary
Gerold "Jerry" Orville Quirin, 82 years of Smithton, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his house, surrounded by his family. He was born November 25, 1940, in Belleville, IL.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Paderborn, St. Michael's Men's Club and the St. Clair County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed farming, watching Cardinal's baseball, playing cards, especially Euchre, traveling, bowling, softball, horseshoes, and forecasting the weather. But most of all, he loved selling eggs in his community.
On May 3, 1961, at St. Michael's Paderborn, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Glauber and from this union three sons were born. Carol and Jerry shared sixty one years of marriage together.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Quirin of Smithton, his three sons, James (Michele) Quirin of Waterloo, Paul (Kathy) Quirin of Smithton, and Michael (Michelle) Quirin of Smithton, his nine grandchildren, Zachary Quirin, Joseph Quirin, Nathan Quirin, Hannah (Matt) Lane, Abby Quirin, Sophie Quirin, Ashley (Andrew) Pfeil, Kayla (fiancé Tom Banks) Quirin, and Megan Held, three great-grandchildren, Axton Pfeil, Abram Pfeil, and Maverick Lane, his brother, Bob (Michelle) Quirin of Millstadt, his sister, Mary Ann (Mike) McGuire of Waterloo, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Quirin; mother, Adele Quirin; and a sister who died in infancy.
Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2023, 9:00 am - 11:00 am, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Paderborn, IL. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 11:00 AM, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Father James Voelker officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
