Georgine Leona Sutter, nee Theobald
Daughter of the late, George and Caroline, nee Dannewitz, Theobald, born at home on December 11, 1922 in Sugar Loaf Township. Baptized at home on December 22, 1922 by Rev. Phillip Ziemendorf, Pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, East Carondelet, IL. Confirmed by Rev. Louis B. Buchaheimer on April 5, 1936 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO. Confirmation verse, “Ye are bought with a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and spirit, which are God’s.” 2 Corrinthians 6:20
Married Clarence Sutter, February 14, 1941 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO., by Rev. Hobart Meyer, Pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Georgine was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Clarence, her parents, two brothers, and four sisters, her son, Wayne Sutter and infant granddaugther, Charlotte Sutter.
Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn (Harold) Hughes, two sons, Norman (Sandy) Sutter and Clay (Tammi) Sutter, all of Millstadt, daughter-in-law, Anita Sutter of Ballwin, MO., grandsons, Wes Hughes, Ross (Amy) Hughes, Dwayne (Allison) Sutter, Deano, Wade (Jaime), Cameron, Chet and Cal Sutter, granddaughters, Heather (Clint) Kasten, Darlene (George) Morton, Wendy (Walter) Staas, Crystal (Erich) Savanich and Ceely Sutter, great grandsons, Austin Morton, Cole and Crayton Kasten, Dylan and Devin Sutter, great granddaughters, Emma Hughes, Carli Kasten, Ashlee Morton, Libby Savanick, Sophia Staas, and baby Staas & baby Savanick.
Georgine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, where she taught Sunday School for 17 years, was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League since 1951, Trinity Ladies Aid since 1951 where she served as an officer for 28 years, and past president of the Millstadt PTA and helped organize the Band Parents Association. She was a member of the Millstadt VFW Post 7980 ladies Auxiliary.
Georgine was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family and friends knew her as one who always loved to laugh, enjoyed a good joke, tirelessy played games with her grandchildren, and enjoyed Pinochle and card games with friends and cousins. Her love, faith and dedication to Christ were a strong witness to all of her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Place in Millstadt and Hospice of Southern Illinois for their loving care & support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) or donor’s choice.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL., and an hour before the service on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, IL.
Funeral Service will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, IL.
Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
