George Henry Swan III's Obituary
George Henry Swan III, of League City, TX, sailed into eternity on September 13, 2009, from Columbia, IL, after a hard fought bout with cancer. He entered this world on July 12, 1939 in San Antonio, TX, as the first child of George and Margaret Swan. Even as a child, determination and will-power were never in short order. When he decided to become a commercial airline pilot, nothing would stop him from this goal. He became a pilot and captain and flew until his retirement in 1999 from Continental Airlines. Always an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, he loved sailing and maintaining his sailboat. His quick wit and infectious laugh were evidence of a good time about to be had. Very important to George was the Harbour Island community in which he lived, he was very active and involved in its welfare until his move to Illinois in April. All who knew and loved him will miss him dearly.
