George was my peer, my partner in leading the HRRS organization and, most of all, my friend. George was an extremely knowledgeable and skilled data mart expert, who was the go-to person on any aspect of extracting, protecting and storing employee data for the IRS. My initial reaction to his blustery personality was almost fear...his reputation for his skills plus his demeanor could be a bit intimidating. Of course, the years we worked together proved me wrong...George was not just reputed to be skilled, he was over the top amazingly skilled, one of the best programmers I had the privilege to work with in my 25 years working in programming based organizations. And George was a gentle, funny man - he had a strong sense of friendship and was such a gentleman. His sense of humor and his ability to make me smile, not just at a situation but at myself, were reasons we grew even closer in our last years working together. I was fortunate to visit George and Jean in October and, even in his fight against cancer, he was smiling and attentive, ever the gentleman. We will all miss George, but now he's at peace. My love to Jean and his family. I'm so sorry for your loss.
