George was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Luella Anna Toenjes, nee Mueth, who died on August 25, 2013, his parents, George and Alma, nee Eichelmann, Toenjes, his father & mother-in-law: Joseph & Anna, nee Becker, Mueth, , his brothers & sisters-in-law: Robert & Delores Toenjes, Wilbur ôWhipö & Eileen Toenjes, Donald ôKnucklesö & LuAnn Toenjes, his sister: Marlene Toenjes, his brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Arthur ôOttsö and Alberta Mueth, Cletus ôDipö and Mildred Mueth, Henry ôHankö Mueth, Herbert & Marion Mueth, Emil & Ardella Mueth, Raymond & Mary Mueth, Ervin ôTootieö & Gloria Mueth, sisters & brothers-in-law: Aurelia ôReallyö & Richard Alberter and Carson ôCorkyö Eversmeyer, sister-in-law: Helen Mueth, his grandson: Shane Andrew Toenjes, his nephew & nieces: Dennis ôBingö Alberter, Betty Huddleston, nee Mueth & Rhonda ôMuffyö Mueth Messick. He is survived by his three sons, Michael ôBirdseedö (Cathy) Toenjes of Millstadt, Ill., Ronald (Debby) Toenjes of Georgetown, TX., and Norman ôShortyö (Kathy) Toenjes of Millstadt, Ill., his daughter, Rita (Jeff) Helfrich of Millstadt, Ill., his grandchildren: Allison Toenjes, Wade (fiance Jenny McWilliams) Toenjes, Todd Toenjes, Ryan Toenjes, Tiffany (Brian) Markus, Lauren (JV) Fiss, Brett (Brittany Stahr) Toenjes, Emily Toenjes, Brad Helfrich, Jacob Toenjes, Max Helfrich, his great grandchildren: Bryce Andrew Markus, Charli May Fiss & Tessa Rene Toenjes, his brothers & sisters-in-law: Floyd ôFlipö & Eulene Toenjes & Glenn ôGissö & Joyce Toenjes,his brother-in-law: Sylvester ôTuffyö Meuth, his sister-in-law: Almira Mueth, his God-Children: Kevin Mueth, Julie Toenjes, Danny Toenjes, Linda Cain, nee Mueth & Nancy Alberter, nee Marlen. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Mr. Toenjes retired as a truck driver from Beil & Sons Trucking and Building Products. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Ill., VFW Post 7980 in Millstadt, Ill. and American Legion Post 502 in Millstadt, Ill., Knights of Columbus Council 4741, President of the Khoury League in Millstadt, Ill., he received the District Man of the Year Award & was one of the founding members of the St. James Athletic Comission. He was a United States Navy Veteran. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Millstadt Little League, St. James Athletic Association, Family Hospice or Belleville PTOEC (Parent Teacher Organization for Eceptional Children).
